Something That's Been Going on for Way too Long

Beneath youtube videos with copyrighted material: "no copyright intended."  What?  Did I miss a copyright infringement loophole?

  1. Doesn't that mean that the person posting intends to relinquish their rights to the material so anyone can use it?

  2. That's probably what it would mean, but usually when I see it people are referring to something that they don't have the copyright for, like posting a song. As near as I can tell, it means "I'm doing something illegal but please don't bust me for it because I acknowledge it."
